Jam Update

The submission part of the jam has finished, and the voting period has started. Sadly I haven’t been able to finish the project and submit it. That doesn’t mean I’m gonna leave the game as is – I’m going to finish it. I may not be a part of the Game Jam anymore but does it matter, if it is, to be good? When the game is finished, I’ll definitely post it here and on itch.io for people to enjoy!

Game Jam

For those who don’t know – Game Jam is an online event organized by game developers for anyone to test their skills of working under stress because in most cases we are always stressed because of a deadline. The idea is simple – anyone can participate in this event and they have to make a game within the given time period. The theme for the Jam is announced when the event starts. There are many time periods for a Jam – from 24 hours to over a month! There are multiple winners, usually by categories but the main idea is to have fun and share your creativity with others!

I personally think that this is a great idea to try out! I am excited for the 6-th Brackeys Game Jam that starts very soon and I can’t wait! For those who are interested in participating, I am leaving a link here to the jam. Good luck to anybody participating!

Game Development

First of all, I am sorry for not keeping the site up and not even opening it for almost half a year. Covid did a number on my education and my motivation. I’ve tried doing some new projects that ended unfinished. Some of you who follow me on Facebook know that I’ve started a complicated new project when the site was down that isn’t finished yet.

Anyway… Last summer, shortly after the site was taken down, I started wondering where to go from here. Because to 3D model is a valuable skill but where could I use it? Apart from the little stuff in the everyday life, of course. I felt stuck for weeks trying to find something that could be a future job, be a fun hobby, or bring more meaning to the world around me (mainly because of the quarantine). Then I came upon 3D animated series called Meta Runner(Trailers: Season 1, Season 2). I watched it mainly because I was bored but soon became addicted to it. But something in the credits caught my eye – they were using Unreal Engine to do all this! I have heard that before – this is a Game Engine but until then I never thought I could be interested in this because I didn’t know not only how to code, but many more things – it sounded impossible to me as a kid! But now, I am learning programming at school AND I know how to 3D model which is essential.

From there I started learning Unreal Engine for a few months but I was getting nowhere by self-taught. I needed help. So I enrolled in a course at Telerik Academy and started learning more and more about Game Development. Soon I made friends and eventually – made a team. Even though our final project wasn’t something big or finished all the way – it was a start. (Btw if you want to play it yourself – it is available online here but it’s very buggy and slow – if your computer isn’t powerful it can take from 5 to 10 minutes to load depending on your internet connection) But we still wanted to improve, so we are learning now Unity Engine and trying to recreate and fully polish this game. And from there who knows – maybe we will become indie game developers!

And if you are wondering if this site is going to stop – no. This site is still going to continue to run and I won’t stop making new content. It’ll just have some more variety of content about 3D that’s all. And I’ll post the finished games as well for you to enjoy! Stay safe and until next time!

New category projects!

I’m very excited to tell you that very soon there will be an interesting new category for my projects – puzzles! The inspiration to make 3D puzzles came from Chris Ramsay. He has many video clips for different 3D puzzles and magic tricks. For now, as a start to this category, I’ve made two copies of two puzzles, that he has solved, to acquire this way of thinking. (Because of copyright the models aren’t going to be able to download. If you want to try them or try some other puzzles go visit https://www.puzzlemaster.ca/ and buy one!) I’m currently working on a puzzle of my own and I plan to send it to Chris to determine the level of difficulty.

New Printer

Yes, that’s right, I have a new 3D Printer which is Creality Ender 3. You may wanna ask what happened to my old one. Well…..the extruder broke, and the connector to the heater broke and so on. But let’s focus on the new one. The Creality Ender 3 is an offline printer with a large built volume of 220 x 220 x 250 mm. It has a Bowden type extruder, aluminum frame, manual bed leveling, etc. I’m very happy with it. It gives fewer problems and if there are any- they’re easy to repair. It operates with Cura which is a lot better than XYZPrint(more about the two programs here). There’s only one good thing about the old printer now – I can use its parts to modify the new one!

Filament & projects

I have ordered 5 rolls of filament which will come after 2 weeks. In the meantime, I’ve got 3 new projects & I’ll make a video about them soon. The first is already done (as a model) & you can find it at keyholder with the name “Vertera”.
